At just 14 years old, I, along with a group of passionate teammates, embarked on a mission: to allow girls hockey to be a competitive varsity sport in Minnesota. We faced countless obstacles – skepticism, limited resources, and lots of resistance. But fueled by our love for the sport and unwavering determination, we fought tirelessly.
We just celebrated 30 years since we achieved our goal with the inaugural team hitting the ice for the first time in 1995. I’m filled with immense pride and gratitude. We not only brought girls’ hockey to Minnesota, but we also paved the way for countless young women for generations to come to experience the joy and camaraderie of this incredible sport.
This journey taught me the power of perseverance, the importance of advocating for what you believe in, and the incredible things we can achieve when we work together.
