PETITION TO INDUCT MANON RHÉAUME INTO THE HOCKEY HALL OF FAME

To the Hockey Hall of Fame Selection Committee and Hockey Fans Worldwide,

The time has come to correct a glaring omission in hockey history. Manon Rhéaume is a trailblazer, a pioneer, and a game-changer. Yet, despite her monumental contributions to the sport, she remains absent from the Hockey Hall of Fame.

We, the undersigned, call for the immediate induction of Manon Rhéaume into the Hockey Hall of Fame to recognize her historic impact on the game and her role in transforming hockey for future generations.

Why Manon Rhéaume Deserves Induction:
First Woman to Play in the NHL – On September 23, 1992, Manon Rhéaume made history when she suited up as the first and only woman to play in an NHL game for the Tampa Bay Lightning. This was a milestone for her and a defining moment in hockey history.

Pioneer for Women’s Hockey – Manon broke down barriers before the PWHL, before the Olympic competition, and before professional opportunities for female players. She paved the way for women to be taken seriously in the sport.

Gold Medalist & International Champion – She led Team Canada to gold at the IIHF Women’s World Championship and helped lay the foundation for international women’s hockey success.

Professional Career in Men’s Leagues – She continued to challenge norms by competing in multiple men’s professional leagues, proving women could play at elite levels.

Mentor and Leader in Women’s Hockey – Today, she dedicates her life to coaching and inspiring young female athletes, shaping the next generation of hockey players.

The Hockey Hall of Fame is meant to honour those who have changed the game. Manon Rhéaume has done precisely that. Her contributions transcend individual statistics—she redefined what was possible for female athletes in hockey.

By signing this petition, we request that Manon Rhéaume receives the recognition she has long deserved and is inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame as one of the sport’s most significant pioneers.
