Christine Bumstead is a high-performance hockey coach in her 4th season with the University of Saskatchewan Women’s Hockey team. After many years coaching at the minor hockey level, she joined the Huskies as an assistant coach in 2021, helping lead the team to a USPORTS National bronze medal in her first season and a return to Nationals in 2024.
In 2023, she became the first female coach in Saskatoon Blades history, working in player development. The Blades captured the Scotty Munro Trophy as WHL regular-season champions with a 50-13-2-3 record that season. Now in her second season with the Blades, Bumstead continues to work closely with the players and coaching staff.
After serving as an Assistant Coach in 2023, Bumstead was named Head Coach for Team Manitoba at the 2024 U18 National Championship. She also led Team Canada’s women’s team as Head Coach/GM at the Deaf World Hockey Championship in 2024. Expanding into the men’s game, she has been named Assistant Coach for Team Manitoba’s U16 Male team, set to compete at the 2025 WHL Cup.
Bumstead was invited as a guest coach at Florida Panthers’ Development Camp and returned for NHL training camp, working alongside the Stanley Cup Champion winning champions. Balancing multiple roles, she continues to push boundaries in hockey, shaping the game through leadership and innovation.
