(NHL) Female Coaches Spotlight – Mackenzie Bruch

Assistant Coach | Minnesota State University Women’s Hockey

Mackenzie Bruch was hired by Minnesota State in April, 2024 and will be in her first season as Women’s Hockey Assistant Coach in 2024-25. Bruch came to the Mavericks from Yale, where she was the women’s hockey goaltending coach since 2021.

During her time at Yale the Bulldogs achieved program records – culminating in the program’s first appearance in the NCAA Frozen Four National Semifinals, ECAC Regular Season Championship, Ivy League Championship. Her goaltenders earned season and career shut-out record, season and career GAA records, ECAC Goaltender of the Year, Top-10 National Goalie of the Year, and Patty Kazmaier Award Top-10 Finalist, and set the record for quickest goaltender to reach 50 wins in a career.

She is USA Hockey’s U18 Women’s National Team’s Goaltending Coach for the 2025 and perviously held the same role for the U22 Women’s National Team in both 2022 and 2023.

Bruch’s career also includes serving as a guest goaltending coach for the Red Wings’ Development Camp in 2024, consulting/scouting for the Omaha Lancers (USHL) and the Chicoutimi Saugeneens (QMJHL), and goaltending coach stints with Albertus Magnus College (Men), Wesleyan University (Women), Bemidji State University, and Pro Crease Goaltending.

A native of Powder Springs, Ga., Mackenzie played college hockey at Bemidji State University.
